SOCIAL ISSUE FEATURED IN MY WORK IS:
The
war between Japan and China to claimed one Island that which is in Japan they
called Senkaku Island and in China they called Diao Yu Dao.
LOGLINE:
A
retirement Japanese sniper named Toshiki who tries to survived in the
Japan-China war in order to keep promise with his wife to come back alive
SYNOPSIS:
Toshiki is a young retirement of
japan prestige sniper. He is very famous of his ability in headshot, every year
he always gets promoted to higher position. Until one night changes his fate.
He sees how the family of the person who killed by him suffers. His thought of
stop the war by do the war is change by that night. Therefore on his 34th birthday
he quit from military without permission and decides to rebuild his new life.
While he starts his new life he meets his first love in his hometown. As the
time goes by fate tells them to be together, and they decide to be married
couple.
Meanwhile Toshiki happy life goes
along the Japan and China war cannot be avoid because of south island of japan
name Senkaku Island. Then the secret japan military commander is looking for
Toshiki’s ability in shooting. The justice feelings on Toshiki’s heart cannot
be held anymore seeing a lot of people die because of war. Yet he must choice
between his new married wife and his shoot intuition.

Backstory
:
He was grow up in military
environment since he was a kid, his father is the head department of Japan top
military soldier. Toshiki was lost his mother when the World War II happened.
For this reason he wants to joined the military and stop the war by do the war.
By the time he joins the military he has an excellent record and no one can
beat his ability in headshot, every year he always got promoted to a higher
position. He is the gold kid for the sergeant of military named Toru Yanagawa,
Toru really admire him as a strong will young boy and consider him as his own
son. Then one day his father is passed away then he needs to bring his father
coffin to his hometown. While he stay there to do the funeral he meet a girl
named Naomi. She is the villager around his dead funeral, therefore everytime
Toshiki take care of his father’s funeral they will meet accidentally. Each
time they met, they surely will have the love chemistry. But become the top
sniper on the military means he has no time for his own life, by the time he
has to leave Naomi because of his job he promise to come back and sees Naomi
again. So he determines himself not to fall in love until he quits the
military.
RESEARCH
REFLECTION PAPER
First time e read the story I got
interest because nowadays Asia is really seldom to involve in a war, some more
a movie that showed Asia’s war is not much as western does. I also doubt in
which side I should make the story comes up, but then I determine myself to
choose the Japan side perspective. I also put the romance line on my story in
purpose to not make this story fully fill with the action which will not really
suit teenager especially girls.
Therefore in a nervous part of the
war we will still feel touched and sad on the romance part which is Toshiki’s
effort to survive because his promise to live happily ever after with his new
bride Naomi. The value of the story itself it’s quiet common but strong which
is, impossible there is happiness for war purpose. We cannot stop the war by
doing the war itself, because war will create another war. So I intent to show
the audience there is no positive purpose by doing negative action.

TREATMENT / STORYLINE &
STORYBOARD
Japan is a peaceful and counts as
safe country in Asia, economy stability runs very well in past years. Although
the daily activity there is monotone but each family could live prosperous
there. Yet those achievements are not free as well, for the past few decades
they were having a big war with western country. Million bodies were lie around
the road like a dust because of war. Fortunately war could be finished because
of a man named Sato Hiroshi, he was the emperor savior and because of his
ability Japanese concord with western country could be achieved. Therefore the
Japanese emperor rewards him as a first place in a Japanese top military.
The next few years Sato were born a
son and he gave him a name Toshiki Hiroshi, because of the military life Sato
ever had he might also teach his son with vicious way. He surely encourages his
son to be like him as well. As the time goes by Toshiki grows as a confident
and stubborn kid, even when his mother died he does not say goodbye properly as
her mother son. Toshiki only has mindset to become the greatest sniper as his
father used to be.
A few years later he was succeed to
become his father successor. His name got in a first place on japan top
military. Yet day by day his tenet get weaker, he is starting to doubt whether
this kind of life he wants or his father does. Especially on the one night when
he got an order investigate a robber case he got shot the robber but when he
sees how was the robber’s family suffer and sad because of losing the one they
love. Therefore on his 34th birthday he determines himself to quit
from the military without anyone’s attention and continue his new chapter of
life. But he found that his father passed away because of heart attack, so then
he went back to his hometown and visit his mother’s funeral to say goodbye
properly and do the funeral to his father. When he got no direction after that,
he is seeing a girl named Naomi from his childhood. When comes to the first
sight they both still recognize each other. A little cliché moment is happening
that time. They are having a little chitchat end up with a sort of chemistry
comes out from themselves.
As the time goes by, these two
couples are meant to be together. Toshiki with his stubborn but gentle is able
to a softhearted man with Naomi’s tender love. At this rate Toshiki feels that
he just started the real life he seek to. But then after they choose the date
to do the wedding, the Japan military sergeant Toru find him to lend his
ability because Japan is on danger condition because of war with China in order
to fight for Senkaku Island. He realizes the circumstances are not right that
time. Therefore he comes to the stage where he needs to choose his nation or
his own life. But then his feelings upon justice cannot be denied anymore, even
Naomi also realized that. Then he decided to take a part into battlefield once
again and promise Naomi to continue the wedding after he comes back.
The situation is really not on the
Japan side, yet Toshiki still tries to survive in any condition to fulfill his
promise upon Naomi. On the 5th day, Toshiki lost his left hands and
almost die because of exhausted. The only thing could make him survive that
time is only his will to see Naomi once again. Fortunately on the 6th
day the Japan agreement towards China is accepted then the sign of the end of
the war is light up.
Eventually Toshiki reach his
hometown and sees Naomi still waiting him right in the same place as he left.
